It's (finally) Christmas!
Annie has been excited about Christmas since June. All through the summer and fall she would ask, "it's almost Christmas!???" And the only way we could help her understand time was to explain to her that Christmas won't come until it gets really cold outside.
Enter: fall. "Is it almost Christmas?!" Well, no baby, it has to be even colder. Christmas will come when it snows." I mean, we live in Kansas City and we ALWAYS get snow. The only thing is: we spent Christmas Day in Arkansas....and it was 70 degrees. We opened presents at my moms - things from the grandparents and her uncles and we even opened gifts a second time in Springfield while we were at Steven's parents. Still that girl of ours keeps asking when Santa is coming. (Long story about how we weren't going to do Santa and Mickey Mouse has convinced her otherwise. For now we will play along and we will deal with all of that next year).
We tried to explain to her that Christmas was over, but she's not convinced. Since we have been traveling over the last 1.5 weeks, our girls have yet to open the gifts we bought them. We didn't think it fair to let them open their things and then make them leave their (really cool) toys for an extended period of time. Since they had gifts at the grandparents we decided to wait until we got back to let them open.
I had no idea how perfectly timed this whole situation would be. We got home this evening with the intent of letting them open their gifts after a good night's sleep. When we pulled in guess what was on the ground?? SNOW!!!!!
{{Just know that we never said a word to Annie about opening tomorrow}} we pulled in and Annie starts squealing over the snow asking if she can play in it just a second. (Everything is "just a second" these days) She gets out of the car and immediately starts exclaiming, "ITS CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!! ITS CHRISTMAS EVE MAMA!!! Santa is coming!!" for months we have been telling her that when it snows it'll be Christmas - and we could not have times this scenario better if we wanted to!! So we went along with it - because thankfully 3yr old's do not have a great concept of time - and tonight after our girls went to bed Steven and I got to play "Santa."
I'm so excited and cannot wait to see what they think!!!
