Emery is 9 months old!

I realize that I have been a much worse record-keeper since Emery was born.  No longer do I have the down time I had when I was just a mother of one.  When Annie slept, I had time to do whatever my heart pleased - which often consisted of me documenting every month of her life.  Now that I am mother to two, I don't even remember what free time feels like.

People say that every child is different.  I knew that had to be true to a degree, because God does not make copies of people to paste all over the world.  Each person the Father creates is unique and there is not a single person who is the exact same anywhere on earth. (Or Mars if you're into that kind of thing ;) )  However, I am learning how true this really is.

When Emery was born, she was the spitting image of her sister.  However, as this chunky little darling has grown, I am finding out that she is nearly the complete opposite (imagine that) of Annie.  Now, I know a good mother doesnt compare her children, but indulge me as I do just that:

-Annie would only take a bottle after 3 months old.  Emery will not take a bottle to save my soul, which means she has to be attached to my hip 24/7.

-Annie slept like a dream.  At 6 months old she did not wake at all and slept a solid 12.  Emery.. well.  She goes to bed at 7:30 and cries at least 3-4 times between then and midnight.  At midnight I'll nurse her and she will sleep until 5am.  I'll feed her at 5 and she goes back to bed until she's ready to wake for the day at 7:30.  Some nights there is no rhyme or reason to her rhythm.  Sometimes she doesnt cry at all and stays sound asleep.  Other nights she wakes up half a million times.  I can't figure her out.  A lot of it is crying for her pacifier, that fell out of her mouth, that she can't seem to find while she's in bed.  She forgets she has the ability to move and roll, but maybe she'd just rather me come and find it for her instead of performing an all out man-hunt for the thing herself. This part of her drives. me. insane.  seriously.

-If we were out and about while Annie was really tired she would scream and scream and would have an all out breakdown until we got her in bed.  She couldnt fall asleep anywhere except her bed.  Emery is the opposite.  She will stare into outer space when she gets tired.  It's because of this I was able to take her to Denver, CO with me back in July.  She is very mellow and will just.... pass out when she gets tired.  I LOVE this about her.

-Annie, though she had her cheeks and rolls, stayed true to size and was fairly petite.  Emery wears double the size she should.  She is 9 months old and i just moved her into 18 month clothing (some of the pants are already snug!!!!)

-Annie didn't have much hair at this point, but Emery has a nice amount!

-The one thing Emery can do that Annie couldn't at this stage is drink from a sippy cup!  Annie would only do a straw cup (E didnt like those), and Emery has the fine skill of tilting her cup up!  I have been trying for MONTHS to train that girl to a sippy cup and am beyond elated that it's finally happening.  It's a good day when your baby can drink from something other than you.

Emery can currently say: Dada, Hi (and wave), Bye-bye (and wave), Uh-oh (when she drops something), and she just started saying Mama in the last week (FINALLY!!!).
She is so close to crawling and gets really frustrated that she isn't quite there yet.  She can get up on all 4s, rock back and forth, and even push herself backwards, but she can't quite figure out how to stride forward.  She can take herself from the sitting position to the crawling position back to the sitting position.  She shows her frustration by screaming very...vocally... when she can't reach something she wants.  She likes standing and holding onto things, though she can't do that on her own yet. She is moving into the phase of life where she is no longer content just sitting.  The girl wants to move and get into as much as she can get her hands on.

She loves Annie more than she loves me I think haha!  Anytime Annie walks into the room she gets so excited and kicks and squeals & can't focus on anything but her. Unfortunately Annie doesn't quite have the same affections for Emery just yet.  Annie likes Emery and always wants to take her places with us, but when it comes to Emery touching her or her toys - watch out.  She is wearing 18mo clothes, a size 4 diaper, size 2 shoe and weighs 19.13lbs. She has two little bottom teeth, but may be cutting a third one. We are on the verge of having to move her up to a convertible carseat (her seat holds 30lbs but she's reaching the height limit)

Her thighs are as big around as my forearms and her bottom is the same size as her 3yr old sister's.  I love giving her tickle kisses (the kind of kisses that hit just the right place to make her giggle uncontrollably) and my favorite is smelling her sweet little head.  I love holding my little chunk because she is just so squishy!  I have to remind myself to be gentle when I hug her because I could just squeeze and squeeze her!! While she is a really laid back baby, she has been a really difficult one for me.  There are days that I feel like she and her sister will drive me insane, but I am so thankful for both of my girls.  I'm so grateful to be called Mama by not one, but two amazing daughters.  Happy 3/4 birthday Emery Nicole!
