Popcorn Dates with Daddy
For the past four nights or so (since Steven has been off), Steven and Annie have had a little before-bedtime ritual:
-Annie gets her bath
-She gets her jammies on
-She and her daddy share a bowl of popcorn together and watch one episode of her favorite show, Paw Patrol.
It's pretty sweet watching them sit and snack together...especially since Annie can eat over half of the bag Steven pops!
Tonight after her bath, Annie looks at her daddy and says, "C'mon Daddy! Let's eat popcorn together!" Im sitting in the recliner doing an online Thirty-One party, so I look up at her and smile and tell Steven (who didnt' hear her) what she was wanting. He tells her "ok, let me get our popcorn ready!" and he does. While he is putting the popcorn in the microwave, Annie runs over to the couch, drags the pillows onto the floor (they each sit against a pillow on the floor, against the couch, with the popcorn bowl between them). She runs into the kitchen and says to him, "Ok Daddy! It's ready! Let's eat!" We both laugh after seeing that she has gotten their special date time all set up and ready. She of course, wanted to watch the popcorn pop, so Steven picked her up and let her watch it finish. She helped him get their blue bowl out and after Steven dumped the popcorn up, she carried it to the living room while, again, saying, "Cmon Daddy! Let's eat popcorn together!! Mmmm nummy nummy it's delicious!!"
That in and of itsself is a pretty precious moment. BUT the next part is the getter.
I finish up my work, and since Ive been MIA for the last hour or more, I walk over to sit next to Annie so I can love on her and just be with them for a while. As soon as I sit down Annie says to me, "No no mama. Get up."
Me: "What? I can't sit next to you?"
A: "No, stand up! Go to chair and work!"
She proceeds to help me get up and pushes me over towards the chair where I was sitting at working.
Me: "I can't share popcorn with you and daddy?" Her: No!
So I reach in and grab a few kernels and she looks at me with a stink face and says, "heeeeeey!!!! no mama!!! you go work!!"
Conclusion: popcorn before-bedtime datetime is reserved for Daddy and Annie only. I am not allowed in their zone. It made me a little sad (because she ALWAYS wants me)....but it also filled my heart that she wanted to share that special time with her main man. Completely melts my heart to see the special bond she has with her dad.
