Emery - almost 5 months

I am not believing it has been nearly 5 months since I delivered my sweet little Emery!!  The first three months of her little life was extremely challenging, but we made it through and I praise the Lord for getting us there!  It has taken a while, but I think I may be able to survive this whole "mother-of-two" thing!

Emery is a happy, happy girl with almost as many rolls as the Pillsbury dough boy!  At her 4 month check-up Miss E weighed 16.1lbs and was 24" tall.  We JUST moved her up in clothing size, which means she is now wearing 9 month clothing (or 6-9) and a size 3 diaper!!!  She is the same size Annie was when Annie was about 7.5-8 months old!!!  Crazy!!

She is a pro at eating and knows an impostor when she sees one.  At this point with Annie I was exclusively pumping - but with Emery, she will not even entertain the idea of a bottle.   She has, however, come to love her pacifier, so we are grateful for that!  We've had to put her in a Halo swaddle because she can break out of the other ones, but she still isn't quite ready to be without it yet.  When she goes to bed she has to be swaddled and she needs her paci.  Give her a tiny rocking and out she goes.  She was once a crazy, crying mess....but now she's as easy as can be.

Emery is smiling all over the place and gets super excited when she makes eye contact with someone. She really enjoys jumping in her jumperoo and has made a special connection with a pink little bear that hangs on her play mat.  Her laugh is absolutely contagious and I can't help but giggle when I hear her laugh.  She is trying her little hardest to roll over, but she just cant seem to get it yet.  She's a strong girl, so I'm a little surprised! She is trying to roll from her back over to her front and is *so* close!  She is a social girl and loves to talk.  She will get pretty upset if you walk away from the conversation before she's had her say.  We've reached the point where she tries to shove anything in her mouth that she can get her hands on.  She's still learning how to work her little hands, but the second she is able to get something - in the mouth it goes.

With that said, Annie tries to feed her from time to time, but I think she finally understands that Emery is just too small to eat her cheerios.  Annie has grown quite fond of her baby sister.  In fact, last month while we were at my mom's I left Emery at home with my sister while Annie and I ran out to get pizza.  On the way she noticed Emery wasn't there and she shouted, "EMERY!! MAMA!!!" I told her she stayed at Nanny's house and she insisted we needed to go back to get her.  Anytime her sister is out of her sight she's super concerned with her whereabouts.  Annie even gives Emery a kiss before E goes down for her naps.  I knew she'd come to love that chunky little baby.

Annie is blowing us away every single day.  She's doing such big-girl things and putting phrases together that we hear ourselves saying a lot. I'll do another post on her later, but she's so so so fun and we are LOVING the 2.5's!!!  Steven and I are absolutely CRAZY about our girls & whoever said you need to have one of each gender is crazy :)  We are thrilled that these two get to be SISTERS!
