The Winds of Change
This post will be about my sweet Annie. At almost 21 months, that girl is CHANGING so much. It's something that both me and her daddy are excited about, but it's also completely bittersweet. It's just so amazing to watch this little person become a little person! The fact that she can RUN now just blows me away. I remember when she first started crawling and I was so excited for her I could hardly stand it - and now... SHE RUNS!! How did she figure that out?! She talks, she makes herself laugh when others are laughing and she wants to be a part of the fun, she can identify shapes, she can make believe, she can express affection, she can identify the people and dogs that she loves.... she's amazing.
This little girl is changing so so much right before our eyes that I almost hate to blink anymore!! Everyday its a new adventure with that sweet little love and I'm just so dang proud of the little lady she is becoming!! There is SO much that she can do now that its hard to make a list.... but here are some of the things happening in her life right now:
- She just moved into her toddler bed!! TODDLER BED. Annie no longer sleeps in a crib - and she loves it!! AND she stays in it. I never had to teach her that... she just....does. She doesnt get out and wander around at night (mainly because she's too busy sleeping). When she wakes up from her naps or in the mornings, she just lays in bed and waits for me. I do lay books beside her, so there have been times where she'll grab those and climb back into bed and read until I come for her. It amazes me that she just... does it. I never instructed her to stay in her bed. I'm telling you - this girl is a dream come true.
-I can hardly leave a room without her following me. She loves to sit in my lap and to just...be with me. But she also does a great job at playing alone - just not when I'm around...
- She can identify 4 letters (A, B, O, X) and knows what a circle, heart, square, triangle, and star are. If you ask her what color something is.... the answer is always yellow, so I guess we'll need to work on that. But hey, the kid isnt even 2....
- She is forming sentences - our favorite is "where did he go?!?" or "I want this." When she points at things and says "uh, uh, uh, uh,...." we say, "What do you want Annie? use your words." And she responds, "want this!!!" (thanks for the clarification little darling). The absolute BEST thing she says is "woh woh" which is translated "love you."
-She loves to facetime: Gapah (steven's dad), Pops (my dad), Cassie (Cassie), Macy (Cassie's Dog) and Scoe Scoe (Roscoe, Cassie's other dog.) She has recently learned that our neighbor's dog's name is Dutchess.... and now anytime she sees our neighbor Ed, she calls him Dutchess. So. So. Funny. The kid loves dogs, her parents however....can't even think of it.
-Her favorite toys right now are her stuffed Mickey Mouse, Elephant, and Quack Quack *her blanket* - those three go everywhere with us. She is into puzzles, stickers, trucks, balls, and shape sorters. Steven's mom recently got her some kinetic sand and she LOVES playing with it. She loves bubble baths - when its time for a bath we undress her and she immediately runs to the cabinet, gets her bubbles, and brings them over to me. She loves being a big helper!!
- Being outside is her favorite. Water, sandbox, slide, sidewalk chalk, and bubbles!!
-She would rather eat peas, corn, and carrots than macaroni and cheese. She could eat her weight in cheese, strawberries, bananas, and watermelon. Her favorite snack is nutrigrain bars...
-She is starting to grow out of her 18mo clothes, but still fits in a size 4 shoe.
In the next week or two we will start the potty training process, and then we hope to have her paci completely gone by the time she's two... but we'll deal with one change at a time. She can only have her paci when she sleeps - and isnt allowed to use it during the day, so that's something.
SO much change!!! And she is completely oblivious to the biggest change of all that is coming in her life: a sibling!! Steven and I decided tonight that we are going to move her into the room across the hall in prep for the baby - that way she has the larger room....which will be yet another change. But, the kid is a trooper... so.... I'm not too worried... I dont... think...
There are days where I'm SO SO tired (but being pregnant contributes a lot to that).... but there's nothing I'd rather do than be with her (except maybe sleep. hehe). I couldnt have asked for a better child - and though I do attribute a lot of that to the way we have parented her so far, a lot of it is also the amazing personality God gave her!! She is SUCH a little joy and my heart is completely overwhelmed with love for that beautiful, blue eyed girl!
