Baby #2 - Beginning to 15 weeks
There is SO much happening around the Alexander household!!! So much that I have become the world's worst blogger. And I feel like I'm depriving our 2nd child of its stories. I was SO great at documenting things with Annie...and although people say alllllll the time that things are different with your 2nd, they were not kidding. Especially because that first one keeps you on the move! I should probably start with the story of how #2 came to be, but ultimately we all know the answer...so. I'll skip that for now.
So. Pregnancy:
Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy.
This little squirt has been good to his/her mama!! Zero morning sickness. About the only thing I dealt with in my first trimester was EXTREME sleepiness/exhaustion and using the bathroom a lot! Like, waking up 5-6 times in the night to go! I couldn't even take Annie to the neighborhood park because there is no restroom there. Oh, and a headache or two. A couple of weeks ago I had a headache so bad that i thought I was going to throw up and cry.(but I refrained since those things just make it worse). Steven was out with his buddies and it was all I could do to get Annie in the bed. Once she went down, I did too! I tried everything: tylenol, ice pack, massage....nothing helped. Once Steven got home he catered to me and gave me a really nice head/neck massage which helped relax me. Once I was almost asleep he snuck upstairs to make himself a snack. I wanted him to stay with me, so he brought it down to our room. He made some popcorn and the second he walked through the door I told him he had to take it out because the smell was just too much for me to handle. (Note: we eat popcorn almost every night that he's home). I finally fell asleep and woke up feeling fine the next day!
Now that I'm 2 weeks into my 2nd trimester, all of that has passed! Well, I do get the occasional headache. I am experiencing a little heart arrhythmia and that's freaking me out a bit, but it isnt all that uncommon. My nurse told me to pay attention to how often it happens and that we'd go from there. I did experience this a little with Annie. Maybe I'm just more aware of what's supposed to happen this time that I'm more in tune with my bod.
I am officially in maternity clothes, which I actually enjoy. All jeans should have an elastic waist. It feels like youre in yoga pants..only...you look like nice. The downer is: I dont have all that many things to wear, but you only need one shirt and one pair of pants each day....and I happen to own a super sweet washer and dryer and some laundry soap - so something tells me I'll survive.
I will go to the doctor in a week to do whatever the blood screening is called that checks for genetic disorders. THEN I go on August 7th for our anatomy ultrasound!!!!!!!!!!! Any guesses?? Part of me leans towards boy....but I think that's only because we have our boy name picked out. and are completely clueless on girls names! Annie was just the perfect name and I'm having trouble finding anything else that I like. I'm open to suggestions.
Now for Q&A:
Q: Do you guys want a boy or a girl?
A: Either! No, really. Steven would LOVE to have a son (as all fathers would). And the world totally needs more men like Steven Alexander. However, we would both like for Annie to have a little sister. Girls need sisters (right Angie Karge?!?) Society has a mantra that you need one of each. We have our girl so now we need our boy. But i don't feel that way. I dont feel that our family will be incomplete if we never have a son. If we end up with all daughters, that's fine by me - especially if they're all as sweet as the one we already have :)
