A Little Country Girl

Annie and I spent last week with my parents in Arkansas.  My parents are just country folk who live out in the...that's right... country.  When it rains, their driveway, their yard... everything gets muddy.  And wouldn't you know, one of our first days there it.... RAINED.  It was so bad I had to put trash bags in the floorboards of my vehicle to protect the carpets!

Annie didnt know any differently.  She didn't know that it was nasty out.  She just wanted to be...OUT!  This little city girl of mine LOVES to be outside.  She's never really cared much for getting dirty.  In fact, if she falls down and her hands get dirty, she starts whining and holding them out to me so that I will come and wipe them off.  NEVER in my life have I seen my girl embrace dirt like she did this week.  She played in wet sand: picked it up, squished it, threw it in her hair.  All I had to do was give her a stick and a pot of dirt & she was as happy as a lark.

I decided to let her go outside because she wanted to so so badly.  I let her walk on the sidewalk because it was relatively clean...but then she fell down and landed right in the mud, which immediately covered her bottom.  No big deal.  THEN she saw it.  And she couldn't look away.  That girl of mine is FAST because before I could grab her... it happened.  Her foot. Right in the middle of it.... and after that, there was no going back....

Moments like these make me so thankful that I am a photographer because these photos are absolutely priceless....

And here's the best photo of the day.  If you know Annie, you know how much she loves dogs.  She wakes up in the morning barking.  If she spots a dog she immediately starts squealing.  And if you know us, we don't have dogs.  This photo is so precious to us: just a little country girl and her hound... headed off on a muddy adventure....
