Annie is (a little over) One!!!
I realize I'm a few weeks late on this, but my tiny little sweetie is changing so much that I definitely don't want to miss documenting all that is happening with her!
She is such a happy little girl. She still squeals with excitement when I come get her out of bed in the morning and from her naps. Lately she just starts bouncing/crawling around in her bed when she sees me. This definitely makes mornings easier on this mama who STILL struggles waking up early... even after a year of having to do it.
She loves to play. She's quite the independent little thing, which saves my sanity some days. She loves to just sit in her room and play with ... everything. Her toys, her books, her sound machine. In fact, she thinks her sound machine is a stand up piece of technology.
We also have a toy station in the living room that she likes to play at too! She will crawl from her bedroom to the living room to the kitchen back to her room., etc.. she's all over the place! Her favorite toys these days are her Dora guitar, her leap frog playhouse, and her toy puppy.
Speaking of puppies, she's obsessed with dogs. and cats. and birds. and well, any living animal. She can say "woof woof" and "ki ki" (kitty) and "tweet tweet" (bird). I took her to the zoo yesterday & I'm pretty sure she thought it was heaven.
She loves being outside. Rocks are her favorite. Big ones are great, but she prefers the small little pea gravel. She could dig in it for hours. She also likes to go strolling.
For a while with the ear infection she wasn't into foods with textures, but now I can just about feed the girl anything. Pizza, sandwiches, spinach, roasted red peppers, diced peaches, you name it. She's still not a huge fan of touching sticky things, but she's making progress. She has learned how to sign "More," which is super helpful! She will usually make a little grunt when she needs to get my attention and then she'll sign "more, more, more, more, more, more, more" until I follow through with what she's asking. We are trying to teach her to say "Mama" when she wants to get my attention instead of "Uhhghgh!" She can also sign "All Done." She is down to only two bottles of breast milk a day. 6oz when she wakes up and 6oz when she goes to bed. She has her cup of regular ole milk ... or water... throughout the rest of the day. Cheerios and Puffs rank high on her favorite foods.
Bath times are not as fun as they used to be. She doesn't like to stay in the tub very long & isn't a fan of getting washed up. The second I reach for the towel she starts reaching up wanting out. Now that her hair is longer, I blow dry it. She loves sitting on the sink and getting her hair dried. While I dry it, she usually grabs for her toothbrush and "brushes her teeth." I can say to her "brush brush!" and she will brush her hardest at her 5 little teeth. (2 more are on the verge of break through!). Actually, she can be holding anything in her hand & you can say "brush brush" and she immediately starts brushing her teeth with the object. She doesn't like it when I try though.
Annie took her first unassisted steps one day after her birthday. Since then she has taken a few here or there if we really coax and cheer her. Today, however, has marked the first day of what I foresee to be a very stressful mark in baby..err.. toddler...hood. All. Day. Long she has reached out to things and taken steps towards them. She did take one tumble and bump her head pretty good, but she got right back up (after a nap) & tried again. In fact, I was cleaning the kitchen after dinner & I look up to see her walking towards me! I couldn't believe it!! She probably walked a good 3 feet before she fell down. I hear that once they start walking - it opens a whole new ball game in parenthood and I have to admit, I'm nervous. We've had it so easy over the last three months. I'm so excited to see my little scaredy cat let go and take off!
We go to the doctor on Monday for her 12mo well check, but I estimate her to weigh about 20lbs. She is still in 12 month clothes and wears a size three shoe (although some 2's still fit her)
