Annie is 8 Months Old!!
4 months away from a year. Holy. Cannoli.
I try to think back when she was a newborn, three months... four months old, even - and I'm already having a hard time remembering what it was like having a newborn. People always say that you forget... and man, they weren't kidding. I can look at photos and remember the moment based on the photo, but if I try to remember in my head... it's all just a blur. (Thank heavens for modern day photography!!)
This month has been by far one of my favorite months in Mommyhood. Annie is growing and changing like wildfire. She has perfected the art of sitting up, though we still put the boppy around her if we walk away so that she doesnt fall backwards and bump her little noggin. She can almost sit herself back up after she falls back on it.
Annie can now roll over in both directions! We've noticed that she's pushing up on her arms a lot more too. Sometimes when she's on her belly and she sees a toy in front of her, she will kick her little legs and try to get the toy. However, she doesnt really go anywhere, so she just ends up getting mad. She is slowly starting to figure out how to get the toys she wants by using her ability to roll.
We still bathe her in her baby tub and if she's sitting on the reclining side, she can sit her little self all the way up. She even tries to scoot/pull up using the side. She still loves her baths and gets upset when we take her out. But perhaps it's because she knows that bedtime follows. She has learned to splash in the tub and it's really quite cute. She is also obsessed with having water poured on her head. She thinks its really funny...unless you get the water in her face.
She has become quite the little squirmy worm in the bed. I can lay her in bed and throughout the course of her nap/sleep, she will rotate 90, 180, and even 360 degrees. We have a blanket hanging across the top of her crib to help block sunlight and then one on the side for decoration/to prevent her from seeing us when we peek in on her. She is starting to learn how to pull these blankets down, so I have a feeling we wont be able to use them much longer. There is a little blanket that she has grown fond of. We got it from some sweet friends in WV - it is a Carter's blanket that is soft on one side, and satin on the other. She likes the way the satin feels on her face. This past weekend her Granny bought her a dolly security blanket from Carter's that has the soft material on the top side and satin on the underside... and she loves it. Remember how I told you she can roll from her back to her belly? Well, lately she will do this in bed and just play on her tummy. She fell asleep on her tummy for the first time today!
Her right bottom tooth is still coming in, but is quite visible. The left bottom tooth has also broken through the gums! She doesnt complain much about them (thank you teething necklace), but she did spike a fever which left her horribly cranky for about 24 hours prior to her second tooth coming in. Her little smile is sooo stinking cute with these two little teefies.
We didn't get her 6month vaccines b/c around the time of her check-up she had a horrible case of diarrhea and I just couldn't put her through the agony of the shots, so I took her this past week to get them done. She didn't cry during the first shot, but the second two did her in. She was super fussy all day long. They weighed her and as of June 17th she is 17.5 pounds and is 27" long. This means she is 3" away from outgrowing her car seat. Her little feet are starting to hang off already.
We have added peaches, green beans, and watermelon to her diet... and are continuing to add more and more as her appetite increases. We were donating all of my extra milk to a friend, but I have started storing it for Annie. I am so thankful that I produce an abundance of milk and am able to provide breast milk for my sweet girl... however, I am so. tired. of. pumping. The hope is to save enough milk so that by the time Annie is a year old I can stop pumping... but still feed her bm through the winter months/flu season. So far I have about 1.5 months of milk stored (giving her 18oz per day). The hope is to save about 3-4 months worth. Yes, we bought a deep freezer.
Lets see, what else...
-she likes to sit in the shopping cart like a big girl
-she loves turning the pages when I read books to her
-opening cabinets and doors (with daddy's assistance) is super fun
-she is obsessed with babies and small children. Just the sight of them sends her in a laughing frenzy
-she likes to be outside
-still obsessed with daddy
-very clingy to mama and usually whines when I walk out of the room. (this gets a little annoying, but I love that she knows/loves me!!)
-stranger anxiety is starting to set in
-starting to throw fits when I lay her down for a nap... and they escalate when I walk out of her room.
I'm sure I'm leaving something out, but that's ok.
Happy 8 Months Sweet Girl!
