Annie is 6 months
Half. A. Year. Old.
Oh. My. Stars.
Annie is at a fun age! She is so curious about everything around her. She likes to play and is learning how to grab and hold on to her toys. She is trying to pull herself up when she lays back.. and can sometimes sit unassisted on our laps! She cant quite sit up yet, but she tries. She gets excited about things, smiles, and even laughs! She is such a little joy to watch! Here are some other things happening in our sweet girl's world!
-She is blowing raspberries with her little mouth. Its so cute that I dont mind that she spits all over me. She tries to do this sometimes when she's eating... and its not so cute when I wear her sweet potatoes.
-Loves to play on her playmat. You know, the one that has the toys that dangle down. She used to just stare at those toys, but now she grabs them and tries her best to eat them all. I know that she likes to look at books and at the snail mirror that her cousin Caleb gave her while she's laying there. She used to like staring out of the window while she laid on the mat, but not anymore. There are too many fun things to do.
-She can make a complete circle on her mat by leaning her head waaaaaay back...and then rolling to her side and pulling her legs forward.
-She can scoot on her back!! She pushes up on her little feet and goes and goes. She doesnt do this all the time and usually doesnt go far. This has put an interesting spin on diaper changing time.
-Loves to jump in her jumperoo! That's right - she has figured out that not only can you sit in it and listen to the music and watch the lights, but it actually bounces! She jumps and jumps and jumps! It is so fun to watch her have fun!! She also has discovered that there are lots of toys/activities on the jumperoo. There is a little lizard in a plastic case that you can roll around (and there are some beads in there to make noise) - and she gets so frustrated that she cant get the lizard out of the cage and eat him. She used to be fascinated by her "froggy boyfriend" (the frog that dangles above her head) - but little does that froggy know, she has left him for another, for lizard.
-likes to toss and turn in bed. We have a video monitor so we can keep an eye on her since our bedroom is on a different level than hers - and every time we look at her, her head is turned a different direction. About a month and a half ago I got her out of bed and noticed hair all over her sheet. She officially has a little baby bald spot in the back of her head. The good news is: her hair is growing! Hopefully it'll cover that spot... eventually...
-looks forward to her bathtime. However, we are running into a problem where she keeps scooting down in her baby tub! She has conquered getting her tushy over "the hump" and I think I spend more time picking her back up than anything. She slides down until her mouth is almost underwater... over. and over. and over. She has discovered that toys can exist in the tub. She loves playing with her pink ducky that Mrs. Nikki got her. She smiles so big when she sees pinky. She likes when I wash her feet and her legs and cracks up everytime I do. She HATES getting out of the tub.
-Likes kisses from mama and daddy. So much that she will giggle and giggle when we eat her up with them. She's even starting to kiss back.
-throws a fit when she doesnt want something - when she's finished eating or doesnt want to do a certain thing. She's learning how to communicate, but it's a little challenging teaching a six month old the appropriate way to communicate.
-likes to be tickled on her head, neck, ribs, and feet.
-loves to be naked
-likes to eat her breakfast in her high chair like a big girl. She is also enjoying solid food. She lets me know by making "mmmm" noises the entire time she's eating! It's so funny. Her diet consists of mommy's milk, organic brown rice cereal, sweet potatoes, yellow squash, and pears.
-likes to hold my hand while she's having her bottle
I have a feeling that we will soon be venturing into the land of teething... I'm not so sure I'm ready for that phase yet!
