Annie is 5 months old~

For once I'll skip the "Holy smokes I can't believe she's so big" line (heh) and go right into it!

The girl is growing, growing, growing!!  At her last doctor's appointment on March 5th she was weighing in at 14lbs.  She is wearing 3-6mo clothing.

It is so fun to watch her little mind develop.  She is so aware of her surroundings and when she looks at things you can see the little wheels in her head turning. She is fascinated by her daddy, as she always has been, and is still in love with that baby in the mirror.  In fact, when she isnt sure what she wants or is a little sad, that baby always knows how to cheer her up.   She is starting to figure out how to grab things, though she typically doesnt hold onto them for very long.  I'll sit her in the bumbo with the tray on it with several toys - and within minutes they are all on the floor.  She has a jumperoo and has finally figured out that not only does it have toys to play with, light up, and make music, but you can also jump in it.  She is turning in to quite the little bouncer!

She likes to sit on my lap after she wakes from her nap and has had her bottle and read stories.  Her favorite activity is laying on her play mat with books surrounding her so that she can look at them and also look at all of the toys dangling above her head.  She will talk and talk to those little toys and even wrestle with them.  She has become quite the little chatty girl.  It's the cutest thing watching her talk to the toys and books.  She can't quite roll from her back to her tummy yet, but she wants to so badly she can hardly stand it.  She giggles and smiles so much - I love that she is so incredibly happy!

Bath time is still her favorite time of day.  She has discovered the water and really enjoys looking at it.  She loves when I pour water on her with a WVU cup that we have.  She will stare that cup down until I get it and  she's all smiles once water is poured on her tummy.  We call this action "pouring the gravy on the turkey."  After her bath she enjoys having some naked tummy time.  I put her on her bedroom floor (on a towel of course) in front of her space heater and she will kick around and just look all over.  The kid loves being naked.  In fact, as soon as I get her dressed she throws one of the biggest fits you'll ever see.  However, once she gets dressed and I sit in the rocker with her, she immediately wants her bedtime bottle.  I can't put it in her mouth fast enough.  Once she gets her bottle she starts drifting off to sleepy town.

She started organic brown rice cereal when she hit exactly 5 months and it has become her favorite food.  In fact, this morning Steven and his mom took care of her when she woke up while I slept and I kept hearing her cry and cry.  I got up to see what was happening and Steven said she was really fussy but wouldnt eat her milk.  I'd forgotten to tell him that at breakfast she likes to drink her bottle in her bumbo seat and then have some cereal.  She thinks she's a grown up.  As of now she gets cereal for breakfast and then again around 5pm.  Today we are introducing squash!

With this meal change has come a change in her stinky diapers.  We had to purchase a diaper sprayer that hooks onto the toilet so that we can rinse out her nasties.  It's an extra step that we didnt have before, but it's still not that difficult. I tell you what though - consistency is not the only thing that has changed.  Peeeuuuuwww!!

I foresee so many changes coming within the next month that I keep reminding myself to soak up every moment with her... they really do grow too fast! (However, I can't complain because the more independent she gets, the easier life at home is!)
