Life in Liberty: How We're Adjusting Part 1
Warning: this is a long one.
Now, you have been warned.
I have to admit, when we first got news that we were moving to Missouri, I was really really excited. I love new. I love different... and I thought it was pretty neat that we'd only be 3 hours from Steven's family. I was open to the adventure.
Now that we've lived here three months, I'd like to change my mind.
#1. Terrain/Weather
It's ugly. It's dry. It's dusty. It barely rains. The summers (or at least this one) are miserably hot. It's flat. There are so many allergens. Steven hasn't stopped sniffling or sneezing since we got here. He's pumped up on allergy meds and downs like 4,000mg of vitamin C everyday just to make it through. I spent a lot of time indoors this summer. Now that the weather is cooling off, I dont mind venturing out as much!
#2. Shopping
Kroger doesn't exist. Gabriel Brothers is unheard of. The closest Ikea is 6 hours away. I never knew how much a person could miss these two stores. For those of you back in WV, cherish them. Cherish them with all of your heart. On a good note: We do live about 2 miles from some pretty major stores: Walmart, TJ Maxx, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Pier One, Lowes, Home Depot, Dick's, Kohls... and lots of chain restaurants (Cicis, Olive Garden, TX Roadhouse, Chik-fil-a, Chilis, and on and on it goes). I have to admit it's nice being able to be at these places in under 5 minutes! AND there are tons of other places around too - including an incredible shopping center called Zona Rosa with any store (almost) you could think of - only 20 minutes away.
#3. Our House
We love it. And that's all I have to say about that.
#4. Work
My job is boring right now...haha! I sit at home... a lot. However, the more pregnant I become there more thankful I am for this season of my life. The more Annie grows the more uncomfortable I become. At 34 weeks I toss and turn all through the night & wake up for hours on end in the wee hours of the morning. The perk of being a stay-at-home is that I can catch up on sleep during the day. As long as dinner is ready and the house stays tidy... I can sleep as much as I want :) All of this will change in about 6 weeks when our little princess comes into the world! Then my job really begins!
Steven LOVES his job. I cannot explain to you how amazing it is to hear him say "Work was awesome!" when he comes home in the mornings. He is learning so much and really enjoys what he does! I am so thankful for his love and passion for his work.. especially since he's stuck there for a while ;)
