A Chair for Baby!
Steven and I have only been lacking one thing for Annie's nursery: a rocking chair! I decided long ago that I wanted a rocker/recliner instead of the typical glider with a footstool. The reasons should be obvious, but here are some for you:
- A glider isn't all that comfortable. Sure, some are... but most of the time the arms are wooden (though I have seen some padded ones) and they're very "stiff." If you find the right recliner, it's very comfy and an easy sit.
- The footstool: A necessity when it comes to puffy feet (especially when you're pregnant with baby #2 and need to kick your feet up - and its just nice for late nights. However, you can't tuck it away and it takes up unnecessary space. With a recliner, you can tuck the "footstool" away!
- As baby darling gets older and wants me to read to her, it seems much easier to scoop her up on my lap, kick up the foot rest and kick back with a few books and her blankie!
- On those long nights where baby pie is sick and just wants to rock... a squishy recliner is easier on mama!
SO.. those are some of my reasons for wanting a recliner vs. a glider. The trouble has been: I'm incredibly short... and recliners are typically made for over sized daddies. And they're quiet more expensive than a glider is.
Today we ventured out (after browsing online) to a MASSIVE furniture store about 30 minutes away: Nebraska Furniture Mart. It was glorious. You name it, they had it.. in every brand, color, style, size, and shape! From home decor to rugs, to flooring, kitchens, bathrooms, a thousand couches, living room suites, electronics, TVs galore... and at last... rows and rows of rockers and recliners!

| The inside! And there was a lot more store behind us and beyond this view! |
We sat in every chair in our price range and finally found the lucky winner! This guy! A brown, leather recliner... just my size! Out of all the chairs we sat in there were only about 4 where my feet actually touched the floor.. and this one was the squishiest, yet most "upright" and not saggy of all! And the best part: It was only $239! Cha Ching!
Steven loved it too. So much so that this guy has ended up in our living room instead of Annie baby's room. The rationale: She wont be here for another 3 months... and there's no since in this great chair going to "waste" in a room that we probably wont enter very much until she's here. AND once she does get here, I can just rock her or feed her in the living room! Our bedroom is downstairs, so her cries won't disturb Steven either way while he sleeps... and we rarely have visitors! We may change our minds as she gets older or as we have more babies... but for now, Annie baby's chair is in the living room.. right in front of our 50" TV...
