Goodbye First Trimester!
I can hardly believe that my first trimester is OVER!! I'm thinking...where did the last 13 weeks go?? but then again..who cares! Goodbye 1st. Hello 2nd!
Pregnancy has been unbelievably good to me. GOD has been unbelievably good to me! I have had ZERO morning sickness. Nope, not even once! The worst part was using the bathroom every 30-45 minutes. I actually pride myself in being able to sit through the entire showing of THE AVENGERS without having to get up. And if that's as bad as pregnancy gets, I could do this again and again ;)
As far as cravings go - I really haven't had any. I find myself in love with Mexican food (but again, I always have been) and I detest even the smell of Chinese (this one is new). I usually find myself "craving" whatever someone else has. If my coworker has pizza for lunch - I start drooling. If they have frozen yogurt from Naticakes... the same thing. Really any food except my own will do :)
I was unbelievably tired up until week 9 or so... and could not function without a daily nap. Staying awake after lunch proved to be challenging, but somehow I managed to keep my peepers open until I got home - at which point I crashed for hours on my bed... only to wake up, eat, and go back to bed. I found that "little cat naps" really last 2.5 hours.
We got to hear little baby's heartbeat at 9 weeks & even got to see it beat on the ultrasound! It's amazing that there's a little person in me. At week 10 I had to upgrade my uh... "shelving" a full size because things were just not working anymore. At week 11 I was a little shocked to see that I had "the bump." Granted, the bump is highly welcomed... but if the bump is visible at 11 weeks... what will I look like at week 37. Oh boy.
By week 12.. the bump had grown. It actually looked more like a bump instead of me just being bloated. I found that my normal jeans were starting to get a bit uncomfortable & there were many shirts that needed to retire because they simply didn't fit in the higher regions.
This past week (13) I got a nuchal translucency ultrasound and got to see my little baby again! Ive already talked about this, so I'll just say again that I'm overwhelmed at how much it has grown since I first got to see it at week 6. The results came in: baby A is healthy and normal!!! Praise God! Oh - and did I mention I have almost outgrown all of my pants.
My sweet husband has been incredible - granted I tell him he got off easy this time because of the lack of sickness & moodiness. He would put in 60+ hours a week between work and school yet still managed to make sure all of my needs were met. If I was hungry or needed a nap, he would serve me or take on extra responsibilities around the house just to make sure I could sleep. I've said it 1000 times, but he is the most amazing man I've ever had the privilege of knowing... AND I get to be married to him!! He is a great husband & is already a wonderful father to our little one! He melts my heart.
Lastly, I'm so baffled by the way God designed a woman to have a baby. The whole process so far has been incredible and I am so honored to get to experience it!! I just keep praying that the Lord would keep this little darling safe so that I can meet him/her in 5 months (woa. 5 months) !! And I'm praying that He would give me & Steven the wisdom to parent this little one -we realize how big of a responsibility it is and we so want to honor our Father in this endeavor!!
Next baby appointment: June 13th... and we get to find out the gender!!!!!
Here's a couple of photos for you... me at exactly 4 weeks pregnant (March 14th, the day we officially found out!) and then again at exactly 13 weeks (May 16th). My, my how baby has grown.
