How We Told Our Families...

Steven's:

Saturday, March 31st – we waited until a little later in the afternoon.  His family texts a lot.  They text more than they call…so when it was time, he text the ultrasound photo to his mom, dad, and sister Cassie.  We knew we would get an immediate callback and wild screaming from Cassie…. And she was right on the money!  Within seconds of sending the picture, Cassie called and said “IS THIS FOR REAL?!?!”  She squeeled like a little girl!  She’s been begging us for a baby forever.  At random times she’ll send me a photo of some cute baby thing she found… and will say “have a baby so I can buy this!!”  (Note: the day after telling her she sends me a picture of a razorback pacifier... that she purchased for baby A)

We found out that she had been talking to her mom on the phone when she got the text.  She thought that it was one of her friends so she let her mom go so that she could read the text… and was surprised to find out otherwise J

Janice actually received the text and thought she saw an ultrasound, so she wanted to let Cassie go to take a better look! Haha.

While talking to Cassie we got a text from Janice that said, “really?”  but they never called us… so we ended up having to call them ourselves!  They were very excited!  Steven's dad  keeps randomly sending me texts telling me to eat all of my dinner… and that he knows of a great day care center (aka his house).
We told them of our plans for April Fools (which I will tell you soon) and asked them to keep a cap on it.  They did well

Mine:
Friday I told my mom that I wanted to skype since I hadn’t seen her face in a while.  Around 8pm on Saturday I called and dad finally decided to go set everything up.  After about 10 minutes of them trying to figure everything out (they always unhook the camera and forget how to get everything going again) – they called!  We set up a camera so that we could record their faces and reactions!

We chatted for a little while & then told them:
“Well, you know we were supposed to come there for Thanksgiving this year… but it looks like we wont be able to come for Thanksgiving or Christmas.”
Silence.
Dad finally pipes up (and he seems a little mad/disappointed) “AND WHY NOT?!”
I say, “Well, we will probably be in the hospital on the week of Thanksgiving and at Christmas we will have a four week old, so it really wont be feasible to travel so far.”
Silence.
Then mom perks up (you could see that a lightbulb went off) and says “WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO TELL US!?”  I say “Im not TRYING to say anything…” Mom says, “ARE WE GOING TO BE GRANDPARENTS?!”  YES!!!!
They could hardly believe it!  Mom immediately started cheering and crying – and dad said “You’re going to make me cry!!” as he wipes tears from his face!  They were sooooo excited!
We told the same thing to my brother Nick via skype… and his reaction was similar… minus the tears!
Again we told them to keep a cap on it – and I thought mom would explode.
