Drug Study - Dosing and Beyond
I got dosed at 8:24am (this time is important, b/c that's what time all of my blood draws have to happen). It was a bit of a horse pill, but nothing to bad. AND I got to drink water, which was glorious. I got 600mg of... the medicine (cant remember the name) that helps with HIV.
An hour later, the side effects hit. Headache and extreme dizziness. We had to sit still for 4 hours ( to prevent people from passing out, etc). The rest of the morning was weird... I felt loopy & I was sleepy from not having slept well & getting up at 5:30am, but sleep was not allowed.
They drew our blood a lot. I became more and more thankful for the hep lock in my arm - and as the day progressed I got used to it.
We got lunch at noon & by that time the side effects were mostly gone. I still had a bit of a headache. The rest of the day was followed by hourly then bi-hourly blood draws... and a lot of sitting. A Lot. Of. Sitting.
Dinner was at 6 and we got to go to sleep at 9! Our hep locks came out at 8pm, so our 12am and 4am blood draws were done normally... getting stuck in the arm. Ouch.
We were awakened at 7am and I was out of there (after getting vitals & one more blood draw) by 8:25am!! From here... I get blood draws Monday - Thursday at 8:24am by way of a good ol' fashioned stick in the arm. After that... nothing until December 3rd!
Minus the lack of sheer boredom, it wasnt so bad :)
