A Father's Love
My dear friends Ian and Nikki welcomed their twin boys - Liam and Brayden on September 21st! I had the privilege of documenting their new beginnings on October 5th (2 weeks old). The session was not an easy one since baby Liam seemed to be dealing with colic. As long as you held this baby boy he was [mostly] calm and collected, but the moment you moved him or sat him down his mood changed dramatically. Brayden, on the other hand - well he slept through most of the session. My husband and I have no children of our own yet, so watching and holding these baby boys was a joy in an of itself. It's such a sweet thing for me to see a new mommy and daddy with their new baby...or... babies... in this case. I've been told that once you become a parent, your view of God changes - you seem to be able to relate to Him more as a father (since you are now a father/mother responsible for little loves) instead of some far off being who lives in Heaven.
Out of the 50 some-odd photos that turned out from the session, this one seems to capture my heart the most. There is something perfectly beautiful about a daddy loving on his babies. To see how much love a father has for his children is alluring to me.

No matter how much a father loves his children... that love cannot even COMPARE to the love our Father God has for us. I mean, He loves us enough to call us his children - and he treats us as so. Not as some orphan who he has to care for... but his own children. He loves us with a CRAZY love that cannot be broken and cannot be shaken.
Another thing - is the amount of trust and faith tiny babies have in their parents. They might not even know it... but they do. Their entire lives depend on their parents. They can't do anything without them. They rely totally and fully upon Mommy and Daddy for everything. If God is our Father & we are to treat him as such... why do we not fully rely on Him to provide all that we need? Most of us trust our earthly fathers to give us good things and good advice and to provide for us - so how much more should we trust our heavenly father with these things (see Matthew 7) who knows us far greater & holds everything together?
I feel like the post I wrote about a horse and his girl was similar to this one... but perhaps its a lesson God is still trying to teach me :/
When I look at this photo - I see a representation of our Father God. He holds us close and will lead us and guide us... if we just cling to Him and trust him with our lives.
