I HAVE A JOB!!

Whew, so the last 2 weeks have been a little bananas... which is why I haven't blogged about this exciting news!! I lost my job with Supreme Industries on Friday, October 1st. I had a job interview on the following Tuesday - and when my interview was over I hopped on a plane to Arkansas! I'll write more about my trip later on - because there is plenty to tell there.... but for now I'll stick with the subject at hand. SO. Had an interview Tuesday morning...and was offered a job on Wednesday afternoon!! So praise GOD I am no longer unemployed. I had one week off (which was actually pretty needed) and started work the Monday I returned home from Arkansas! October 11th was my first day at AACE International. (Association of the Advancement of Cost Engineering). My buddy Amanda, who works for AACE, called me and told me of an opening they had a week and a half prior to my interview. She was moving positions within the company and so now her old position was open! They had to revamp the job duties a little because they were doing away with a lot of what she did. I gave her my resume and she forwarded it on to her boss. A week and a half later I had an interview and the next day I have a job. So I want to give a BIG thank you to Amanda. Thank you for thinking of me and thank you for trusting me enough to recommend me. Providence of God? I think so.

SO you are now reading the blog of AACE International's newest Administrator of Education. That's right folks. I am no longer an "administrative assistant." I don't have to answer the phones or open the mail. Not that I mind, but its nice that it isn't my primary responsibility. I have a title and a "real" position... and that is exciting! So what exactly do I do? Well that's a great question - because I have no idea! haha! I am still in the learning process so I can't fully answer that question - but I deal a great lot with the membership department and with the education department of my company. I've mostly been working with membership, but when it comes time for our company to offer distance learning courses... I'll handle most of that. I am still the "new guy" but I'm really digging the job! I think I'm really going to like it once I move past the awkward new guy phase into the "know what I'm doing" phase.

And that's that. If you're even more curious as to what AACE International is... you can check it out at: http://www.aacei.org/
