Steven's 29th Birthday Surprise!

Steven & I went to an airshow over Memorial Day weekend at Jones Beach - and he LOVED it. For weeks after he talked about how much he enjoyed it and how he would love to go to another one. Immediately I went online to see the schedule and found that the Air Force Thunderbirds would be in Pittsburgh during the weekend of his birthday (sept. 10th)! So, I started planning this thing three months out! This past week when he found out that he was off Saturday (I called his boss and told her about the plan and asked if she could schedule him off) - he was so excited and told me exactly how he wanted to spend his birthday! We invited some friends to come along and he was stoked!

Saturday morning rolled around and I woke him up at 6am saying, "Oh by the way - we aren't doing that thing that you wanted to do. I'm taking you somewhere else!" With his sleepy eyes he looked at me and said, "Huh?! Is it raining?!" (this is the only thing he could think that would cause us not to do what he wanted to do.) We got ready, drove to Morgantown to get our friends (who knew about the surprise all along) and headed out! The whole way there, Steven had no idea where we were going! He tried to guess everything possible... Once we got closer he saw the sign that said "AIRSHOW PARKING THIS WAY" and he became extatic!!!! He was soooo excited!!

This airshow was really cool - we were right next to the runway so we were able to see the planes take off and land (and were pretty close to them) - and they had planes EVERYWHERE that you could walk through and touch. It was fantastic!! It was also a great way to spend 9-11...
Keeping a surprise from him for 3 months was the hardest thing ever... next year - I think I'll do a "not" surprise party for his big 3-0!
Me and My Birthday Boy! I love him - a lot!!
