One Mistake Away
I cannot even begin to describe to you the power in last night's bible study! God floors me over and over and I PRAISE Him for His constant revealing. Last night the study centered around Esther's choice that moved her from the old story line - to a new story line. The shift from self-preservation to brave determination:
Esther had a choice to make in chapter 4: go before the king and risk death - or watch her people be annihilated - and eventually be annihilated with them.
God gives us the free power of choice. He allows us to not only make the choice of WHAT we're going to do, but He gives us the choice of HOW we're going to do the WHAT. Sometimes we get into situations and the "I really didn't have a choice" hits. The truth is - most of the time, we really do have one. Granted there are times when events and things are forced upon us or simply happen through choices that others make. But we still have a choice of WHAT to do with those situations. The question arises: Is the choice I'm making heading in the direction that I want the outcome to go? We are responsible for our choices! We can't always do anything about the choices other people make, but we are responsible for ours.
Do you ever feel like you fit into the lyrics of the Casting Crowns song 'East to West' - "Today I feel like I'm just one mistake away, from you leaving me this way." Do you ever feel like that? I know I do! The more I mess up and make the wrong choices, the more I feel this way. I feel that eventually God is going to get sick of me and just leave me in this wretched state that I'm in. I may give up on myself, but GOD IS NOT GIVING UP ON ME!!
Philippians says, "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." and in Psalm 138 "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me."
God has no intentions of letting up on me or leaving me this way!! We are not one mistake away from God leaving us this way, but we are one decision away from our future, from our God given destinies. We have to make the right choices because there is so much more at stake than what we can see -
