He is Truth
1 John 5:
3This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God
18We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. 19We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. 20We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true—even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
As I read in 1 John this morning, I became so thankful of the Love that Christ has for me! He reminds me time and time again that I am nothing on my own - and that I can do nothing without Him! The desires of this world press on me day after day and it is so relieving to know, once more, that Jesus has overcome the world! It is Christ who keeps me safe ... and because of who I am in Him - the evil one has no hold on me. He has no power over me... and he cannot harm me. Praise be to God!!
The last verse of the passage above (v. 20) is such a great verse for me to cling to. There's so many times where Satan throws me lie after lie after lie... to the point that it is difficult to decipher what is true and what is not. There are times where I feel like God is distant and that he's not there - but again, that is not true. God tells me that He will never leave me nor forsake me!
So, when I can't "feel" truth and when I don't "feel" truth... I have to cling His word... because He is truth. Truth can only be found in him. It just serves as a great reminder to me that when i can't feel the right things, to cling to Him and hold on to the promise that He is For me.. and not against me. That inwardly he is renewing me, day by day... and that He will fulfill His purposes for me! In 1 john 5, it says that "we know and rely on the love that God has for us"... so today I'll do that... today I am relying on the love that God has for me...because that is truth.
