What am I doing?!
I haven't posted in a while about what all is going on with Steven and I - so I thought I'd hit the basics for you!
Work:
My job is going pretty well. I'm loving our new office location - and having my own office! I can listen to music and sermons all day long without disturbing anyone. It helps me not only focus at work, but focus on God all day long! There are still days that are really slow, but I'm learning how to keep myself occupied!
Steven's job is still going well. He's still working with Dave, from our church. It's nearing the end of summer, so pretty soon he'll have to find something else! Be praying for this!
School:
Steven is still debating what he wants to do as far as this goes. Yes, he's going to go to school next fall (after we've established residency)but he's not sure which direction he wants to go. Obviously aviation... something - but he doesn't want a desk job!
Church:
Is absolutely amazing. It's so great to be a part of a body of believers who love Jesus and who love other people. The best part is that it is not legalistic or based around rules and rituals. There was a comment on my Pastor's blog about our website. Most people here in Morgantown are completely turned off to church. As I've said before, we no longer live in the Bible belt. People have horrible perceptions of church (which are mostly accurate) - so we try to break down those barriers by reaching out to people who view church as a joke... as a place that accepts only those who are "good and right." We want to seek and save the lost - even those who have tattoos and have a bad past. Those who wear baggy jeans and backwards caps - those who are on drugs and who have a bad history with alcohol. This is our goal as believers... to reach those who do not know Christ. The comment was about our homepage - it says "where you'll find more Jesus and less crap." - yes the word CRAP is on our homepage. Because it's true. People here view the church as a joke... as a load of the "c" word. So when people read that - they get it... and they think its cool that we say that word (not that we're trying to be cool... but you get the point). It shows the lost that we are not what they perceive church as being. We don't dress in suits and ties - we are real people with real needs... just like they are. Our number one goal is to introduce people to the life changing power of Jesus! It doesn't matter who you are or where you're from!! You can visit our page at http://wvcrossroads.com/. So with all of that said - I am thrilled to belong to a place where it's not about money or buildings or rituals... it's about Jesus!!
Other:
- We are continuing to make great friends and build relationships!
- Steven has been asked to be the Information Technology Manager at church - which puts him in charge of all things techie - from power points, to soundboard, to projectors. As his companion.. my job is to keep the website updated, so yes, I put the word CRAP on the page.
-I have had poison ivy for 2 weeks and I want to saw my legs off.
-We love West Virginia! I twittered the other day that John Denver was on to something when he wrote the song and called it "almost heaven." The mountains and the views here take my breath away ever day! It's absolutely beautiful! I praise God for putting us here!!
