Server Training

I started my "server" training at IHOP today! It was a pretty slow day - but having 10 waitresses didn't help either... so there wasn't much to do! I had a great trainer, Heather - who has worked at IHOP since they opened 3 years ago - and then worked at one in Cali prior to her move to WV! She was so helpful! She let me do a lot of it on my own, which really makes me learn! You can't ever really learn until you do!! I feel really comfortable with it - but am a little nervous about actually TAKING orders. I don't know the menu yet, so the "hardest" part is knowing what questions to ask - as far as what sides come with what... I'm so scared of missing something! The POS system is a little tricky too, but Heather let me enter most of her orders today, which familiarized me with the system more! Tomorrow she is going to let me take all of the orders and enter them all in - since that's the only part that worries me! By next week I'll be flying solo!

I have noticed even more that this is NOT Arkansas! People are made differently here! There is such a diverse group here - it blows my mind! There is also a lot of drama around work - it's a little overwhelming! You definitely have to have a pair to work there! haha!!

So, I'm excited about tomorrow - learning more! I'm so ready to be self sufficient! I have always hated that about a new job - not knowing things. I hate having to depend on someone else to help me do my job!

In other news:

*Steven got a "promotion" at work!! That's very good news for us. Too bad this job will only last until October!

*We are going to a game night tomorrow to meet a new "group" of people from the church! We're really excited about getting to hang out with them!!
