It was brought to my attention that I have yet to post about Steven's job! I thought I did... but here it is: Steven is working for a guy in our church, helping him with his business. They do landscaping and lawn care. Steven is a foreman (i think is what its called) and supervises the landscaping crew. He enjoys doing it and makes pretty good money too! He will only do this through like, October when jobs slow down - then we're not sure what's next!!

So.. now you know:)

I had a long day at work today! I am only scheduled for four days this week, which is kind of stinky - but what do you do!? I think I have the same schedule next week, so hopefully Friday I can talk to the GM and see what the deal is. I was promised at LEAST five days... and I really can't afford to not work that extra day! Work is going well - I'm learning fast! There is a lot of drama there. Forrest City doesn't even compare. After work I came home and lounged around. It rained on and off today, so Steven was a little late getting in from work. (They got a late start). I did a little reading while I was in the bath. Our small group is reading "The Complete Green Letters" by Miles Stanford - we are way behind, of course, but have done well jumping into the middle of it! I decided to go back to chapter one and read the book through. The stuff in it is amazing. The title of the chapter I read today was "Faith"

"Many people are willing to believe regarding those things that seem probable to them. Faith has nothing to do with probabilities. The province of faith begins where probabilities cease and sight and sense fail...God delights to increase the faith of his children. We ought, instead of wanting no trials before victory, no exercise for patience, to be willing to take them from God's hand as a means. I say - and say it deliberately - trials, obstacles, difficulties, and sometimes defeats are the very food of faith." - George Mueller

"Faith is dependence upon God. And this God-dependence only begins when self-dependence ends. And self-dependence only comes to its end, with some of us, when sorrow, suffering, affliction, broken plans and hopes bring us to that place of self-helplessness and defeat. And only then do we find that we have learned the lesson of faith; to find our tiny craft of life rushing onward to a blessed victory of life and power and service undreamt of in the days of our fleshly strength and self reliance." - James McConkey

Wow! In order to rely on God... I have to let go of myself! This is not a grand concept - it is not difficult to understand. Why is it so difficult to live out!?
