Breaking Bondages

This morning marked the start of a new routine for me! I'm going to start doing my quiet times in the morning, since my evenings are getting more and more hectic as the days go on. I take a shower and while my hair is air drying a little, I grab my juice/coffee/beverage of the morning - and sit down with the Lord! I completely cut myself off from the rest of the world while I devote my 100% attention to God. Steven has left for work already, so it's just me and my Maker. the Lord has shown me over and over again that my relationship with Him is the most important one I possess. It feels so great to have that time with God!!

Quiet time:

"If Jesus is Lord on the inside, whether we're shaken, stirred, or broken in bits, His person will come out; His love will express itself; His expression will be on our faces. It can't be otherwise." - Virelle Kidder (from Meet Me at the Well)

"If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." - Gen 4:7

I cannot allow sin to find a foothold in my life. I must master it so that I do not become a victim to it. Sin is a lifelong battle that will not end until the day I meet Jesus face to face. It's not something that I conquer and am finished with. Christ did free me from the bondage of sin so that I am no longer held captive by it - but the temptations are always present. I must fight a daily battle against the dark rulers of the world.

Struggling with Sin?
"Brothers, if someone is caught in sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry each others burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." - Gal 6:1-2

We cannot overcome the sin in our lives on our own. We can only master it through the power of the Holy Spirit - and with the help of our brothers and sisters in Christ. "The body of Christ functions the best when all of its members work together for the common good." If you are struggling - fall on your face before God: repent and run in the opposite direction!!! Grab an accountability partner and share your struggles! We were never meant to walk alone!
