I will not be mastered by ANYTHING!
I have gone almost an entire week without sugar!! (well, exluding sweet tea for lunch the other day!) I'm so excited and I feel so accomplished!
Yesterday I had Don Jose for lunch - and eventhough I just had the "kids meal" I was still pretty full. Even last night! So, ordinarily where I would have eaten dinner - just because I hadn't eaten since lunch - I didn't because I wasn't hungry!! We had church, so I knew that I wouldn't get home until 8:30 or 9 - so before we left I grabbed an apple - and that's what I had for "dinner." AN APPLE! The amazing thing is.... I DIDNT DIE! haha! And I wasn't hungry. Someone at church laughed whenever I told them I had an apple for dinner... but most people think that I'm crazy for what I eat anyways! (we have large discussions over that often!)
So as I continue to practice self discipline and self control over my eating patterns - it's amazing how my whole mind set of food has started to change! Sometimes it's hard to say no to stuff - but how rewarding it is when I do!
I once heard the word sacrifice defined as "giving up something you love for something you love more." I apply that definition to giving up food - to giving up sugar. I am sacrificing that for something else. I am giving up the sugar I so love - for what I desire more: better overall health and a better body! My body is a temple of the Living God - and I have to take care of it!!
So... for those of you who call me a health freak (eventhough I'm no where close yet) and for everyone else... here's the verse I found that I speak to myself over and over again:
"Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me—but I will not be mastered by anything." -1 Cor. 6:12
