When God is Silent

There are times in our lives when God seems to be silent - when it seems as though the flood gates of heaven have been closed - we ask and we pray and we beg for God to move and to work - but He does nothing, or so it seems. Nothing happens. Does God hear us? Why is he silent?
Two reasons:
1. Sin.
2. God is preparing to bring me into a deeper understanding of himself!!
Henry Blackaby says:
"Sometimes God is silent as He prepares to bring you to a deeper understanding of himself. Sometimes His silence is designed to bring us into a state of absolute dependence on and trust in God. Whenever God is silent, continue doing the last thing God told you and watch and wait for a fresh encounter with Him."
Don't be frustrated when God seems silent. Jesus loved Mary and Martha - and when they sent word that Lazarus was sick, Jesus delayed. He didn't immediately rush to their sides. He waited. Lazarus was dying - and Jesus did not reply to their call. Once Lazarus died and Mary and Martha went through the funeral process - Jesus said, "lets go!" Lazarus had been dead 4 days when Jesus arrived and Martha could not understand why he delayed. He loved Lazarus... right?? Why didn't he go immediately?
Blackaby puts it like this: it was almost as if Jesus were saying to them, "If I had come when you asked, your brother would not have died. You know I could have healed him because you have seen me heal people many times before. If i had come when you asked me to, I would have healed him. But you would have never known any more about me than you already understand. I knew you were ready for a greater revelation of Me than you had known before. I wanted you to experience that I am the Resurrection and the Life. My refusal and My silence were not rejection. They were opportunities for Me to disclose to you more of Me than you would have ever known."
Perhaps God seems silent because He has more for you than you could ever know!
