Investing in the Future

"To be loved by God is the highest relationship, the greatest achievement, and the noblest position in life." - Henry Blackaby

"Do you really want to love the Lord your God will all your heart? He will allow no competitors, not money and things, not fame and popularity, and not power or authority." - H.B.

I read time and time again that if I live for the now, I'll miss my purpose, and that God uses my present experiences to mold me for future usefulness. The thing I struggle with most this week is school. Screening is coming up very quickly - so I have to make a decision as to what to do as far as school go. Worries enter my mind: things such as "what if we move to WV? I'll have wasted my time (and money) on a degree I will never achieve. " But what if we don't go? Do I still go to school? What will I use it for? I'll use it for a better job... and that's it, I think.... or is it? This is the rut I face today...

Ultimately, my relationship with God is the most important thing I possess. How does this all work together?? Paul says,

"Whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ, What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ - the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but i press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, i press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. " - Phil. 3:4-14

Henry Blackaby says, "Begin orienting your life to God's will. His purposes go far beyond time and into eternity. Make sure you are investing your life, time, and resources in things that will last, not in things that will pass away. If you don't recognize that God created you for eternity, you will invest in the wrong priorities. You need to store up treasures in heaven."

Woa.. so does that mean... no school - since my ultimate goal is to be a mother... so that I can teach my children about Christ. You don't need a degree for that, right?

I need input.

  2. Oh Ashly,
Bobby has recently said a hundred times, the evil one's favorite saying is "What if . . .?"
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us we can trust the LORD with all our hearts and lean not unpon our own understanding (?) but in all our ways acknowled HIM (focus on Him) & He will direct our paths!
Praise Him who knows you best and allow His Word help you make any major decisions. Bobby Moore
once said he never makes a major decison without searching God's Word for a promise to stand on.

    Love you much, Opal
