Adiana

I would like for you guys to pray for my 20 month old baby cousin, Adiana! To let you know a little about her....
She was born April 22, 2006 and on May 22 was taken to the childrens hospital in Memphis, TN. Shortly after that my cousin, Erica (Adiana's mother) got a second opinion at Arkansas Childrens Hospital in Little Rock, AR. After numerous testing from spinal taps, EEG's, MRI's and on an on she was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms. Infantile spasms is the most sever case of Epilepsy that a child can have. Today she is 20 months old and a very beautiful little girl who weighs 40 lbs and is 41 inches long. Adiana has already been through one surgery to put a feeding tube in her because due to medications and constant seizures she is unable to eat unassisted. She also has a non funcitonal pituitary gland which means that to anesthitize her is dangerous. We have recently found out that Adiana needs to have surgery in order for her to survive. Adiana is unable to expectorate any of the saliva or mucus that she has and has had pneumonia at least 8 times. (Can you imagine a 20 month old having pneumonia 8 times! I am 22 and have never even had it!!) Even with the help of a suction machine Erica still has a hard time getting alot of the saliva and mucus from Adiana's lungs. Because of this if Adiana has to have a tracheotomy done! If she doesn't have this surgery, she will drown in her own saliva/mucus. The problem is that... she may not wake up from her surgery. The doctors have given her about a 25% chance of waking up.
So.. with that, I ask you to keep her in your prayers! Pray that God's will be done through her life and the lives of her parents, Josh and Erica! To God be all Glory!

Oh Ashley,
ReplyDeleteIi heard a couple who felt God was calling them to adopt a forign baby and then found out the baby was severly handicapped. The wife said she knew God wanted her to give love to this baby but she ran from it. When she finally agreed w hus to go she took this baby who could not respond to them in any way and then God began to unfold the life of this baby. Within days the baby was following with eye contact and then she began to respond to voices and then began making sounds herself. She is now 3 years old and very much a part of this loving family. She has developed into a child with much vocabulary and definitely responds and gives love.
We never know what God can do until we lay all that we cling to at His feet. Trusting him with everything. Even to say God gives and God takes away. Trusting that God knows best and leaving all to Him.
We will be praying for this special child.
